New York producer Tony “Blockhead” Simon has invigorated America’s underground hip-hop scene for two decades. Starting as indie icon Aesop Rock’s first producer, he’s gone on to deliver no-nonsense production for a who’s who of underground MC’s. We discuss his 10,000 hour journey from the college days, to working odd jobs around the city, to finally coming into his own. We also chat about topical subjects such as cancel culture, public perception, and the music industry.
